Job Description Summary
The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure the successful implementation and compliance of the collective bargaining agreement by union members and College management. Reporting directly to the manager of director of talent, labor relations, and engagement, the coordinator, labor relations monitors and administers the policies of the Collective Bargaining Agreement at Prince George’s Community College. This position includes providing guidance and recommendations for problem resolution and collaborative work efforts between union members and College management to ensure a harmonious work environment. This position will focus on the resolution of employee issues, complaints, grievances, and support of related employee relations training programs and initiatives.

Job Description Summary

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology and/or Public Administration.
- Two years full-time or equated experience in the professional area.
- Five years of full-time current experience in employee/labor relations to include heavy emphasis in union contract interpretation and bargaining agreement administration and investigations; demonstrated ability to successfully communicate in-person, by telephone and in writing with internal staff and management.

- Function as initial point of contact for union and non-union employee complaints.
- Analyze Collective Bargaining Agreement, The College CODE, and the Employee Guide to develop interpretation of intent, spirit, and terms of contract and the Employee Guide for the purpose of ensuring compliance and equitable enforcement.
- Serve as the Human Resources and Organizational Development ( HROD ) resident expert on the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Investigate a variety of Human Resources-related issues (e.g. EEOC, Wage and Hour, Harassment, ADA, Discrimination, employee disputes, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that effective, legally compliant resolutions are reached in a timely manner.
- Interview employees and conduct research to support investigations.
- Coordinate meetings between union employees, union representatives, supervisors and director of talent, labor relations, and engagement and/or associate vice president of HROD .
- Refer major complaints and/or complaints with legal implications to the director of talent, labor relations, and engagement for action.
- Assist with the development, administration, support, and management of employee relations functions including but not limited to timely complaint resolutions, unemployment information requests, employee relations-related training, filing and scanning of confidential documents, etc.
- Assist with employee relations data collection and report compilations.
- Maintain strong union and management relations.
- Manage and Administer the Dare to Excel employee incentive program.
- Assist with the coordination of College-wide celebrations.
- Develop and implement proactive employee relations initiatives.
- Maintain employee confidentiality at all time.
- Track employee relations cases to identify complaint patterns within departments and divisions, and recommend intervention or training solutions.
- Coordinate the day-to-day administration of bargaining agreement activities to ensure employee and management compliance.
- Assist conducting Knowledge Transfers and processing unemployment insurance claims.
- Provide support in other areas of HROD to include executing and supporting initiatives as assigned.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Must be available to work Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Work schedule is subject to change based on department needs.
- Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
- As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
