The College of Health Professions is excited to invite applicants to apply for the position of Financial Specialist. The Financial Specialist provides oversight and support for the fiscal and administrative functions of the Dean’s Office for the College of Health Professions. The incumbent is responsible for the daily fiscal activities in the department for the E&G, overhead, and university accounts. This includes purchasing by VCU credit card (p-card) and through RealSource, travel requests and reimbursements, and budget monitoring.

•Responsible for the fiscal activities for accounts in the department.
•Prepares monthly reconciliations for state, overhead, and university fund accounts using spreadsheets and applicable reports.
•Reviews labor reports, Dashboard and internal tracking sheets to ensure individuals are placed on appropriate indices.
•Monitors balances to ensure that funds are available throughout the year.
•Reviews and monitors departmental transactions/commitments through Banner and RealSource.
•Prepares purchase orders in RealSource.
•Monitors on-line transactions to ensure that they are approved and received in a timely fashion to comply with University Purchasing procedure and policies.
•Maintains a p-card in good standing to use for departmental expenses.
•Prepares monthly summary reports to update the Director on account balances.
•Determines amount of available funds for individual departmental purchases and tracks expenditures to ensure that they do not exceed allocated budget. •Process journal vouchers and other departmental transfers as needed.
•Helps prepare travel authorizations, reimbursements, deposit/receipt forms, and various other procurement and fiscal forms to facilitate departmental transactions.
•Attends monthly fiscal meetings conducted by the Dean’s office to keep informed of latest college and university regulations and procedures.

Minimum required hiring standards:

•Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field or equivalent experience.
•Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.
•Ability to work in a fast-paced and diverse environment.
•Exceptional verbal and written skills
•Proficient knowledge of accounting principles.
•Proficient knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
•Experience working with VCU business systems, including Banner, Research Dashboard, Finance Dashboard, Chrome River, and RealSource.
•Experience working with the Bank of America Works application for p-card expense management.

Salary Range: $45,000 - $55,000
