Official Title: Student Affairs Program Specialist Business Title: New Student and Family Program Specialist Employment Class: Non-Instructional Academic Staff FTE: 1.0 Compensation: $36,000 - 48,000, depending on experience FLSA Status: Exempt Terms of Employment: 12-month, Annual, Fixed-term Renewable Position Summary:

Provides subject matter expertise in the development and execution of programs within the scope of student learning and development. Organizes the facilitation and development of curriculum design for on-going and new educational initiatives in New Student and Family Programs. Responsibilities

1. Creates and maintains schedules, logistics, and resources for New Student and Family Programs.

2. Maintain budgets associated with New Student and Family programs and services.

· Purchase items within university purchasing guidelines and utilize ShopUW+

· Generate and analyze reports of unit outcomes

3. Assess programs and services and collaborate with New Student and Family Programs Associate Director and New Student and Family Programs Manager to implement changes.

· Create and produce the monthly Parent and Family Newsletter.

· Develop and implement a Parent and Family Weekend program.

· Respond to questions & concerns from new students, their families, and university departments. Serves as a subject matter expert regarding student affairs to internal and external stakeholders.

·Generates and analyzes reports of curricular and unit outcomes

4. Assist with design and development of publicity and marketing materials to include websites, email and social media communication, informational mailings, and day-of publications. Assure these communication efforts align with strategic initiatives and established communication campaigns.

· Collaborate with university departments and with University Marketing & Communications.

5. Collaborate with New Student and Family Programs Manager to organize student-focused first year programming and resources to promote new and ongoing educational initiatives.

Qualifications Required:

1. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

2. Bachelor's degree in a related field.

3. Exceptional interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

4. Demonstrated ability to multi-task and make decisions in a fast-paced and changing work environment.

5. An understanding of the nature of project management and willingness to work extended hours prior to the implementation of large-scale programming.

6. Working knowledge of budget management.

7. Highly developed organizational management and problem-solving skills; must work accurately and efficiently in order to meet a multitude of deadlines and responsibilities.

Preferred:

1. Experience working with and implementing programs for diverse populations.

2. Ability to assess programs, formulate plans, and implement responses to improve administrative efficiency and enhance the participants' experiences.

3. A clearly articulated student success philosophy related to the first-year experience for entering students.

4. Experience with budget management

6. Experience with advising or working with student groups
