Job Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director for the Center of Teaching & Learning ( CTL ), the Director of Faculty Development assists by providing leadership over the planning, development, and implementation of faculty development programming in support of best practices in pedagogy, integrative learning, and the strategic vision of the college’s 3G8P.

The Director provides thought leadership and engages actively with faculty, academic leadership, and other stakeholders to support and advance the use of evidence-based pedagogies, high-impact practices, innovative technology and learning environments, and principles of effective design.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Performance Requirements*
  • Designs, implements, and delivers faculty development programming across the institution, including dual credit and embedded faculty
  • Conducts needs assessment of faculty on an on-going basis to identify longitudinal faculty development strategic priorities
  • Provides oversight for development and implementation of designated cohort-based experiences
  • Identifies and sources appropriate talent for outsourced training providers
  • Identifies, develops, and supports processes related to internal and external recognition awards and opportunities
  • Collaborates with academic leadership including deans, department chairs, Institutional Effectiveness, and other stakeholders to determine needs and gauge efficacy of faculty development programming
  • Provides support for principle advisory panels as requested and provide subject matter expertise on issues related to faculty development as needed
  • Supports faculty engagement, production, and presentation of Scholarship on Teaching and Learning (SoTL)
  • Researches and develops new training and development resources
  • Evaluates and updates training programs to keep current with new techniques
  • Ensures appropriate internal communication and promotion of events and offerings is communicated throughout the college
  • Develops and implements the use of course and program assessments, evaluations, learning outcomes assessments, and other processes to ensure the effectiveness of the learning, support, and development of institutional strategic goals, objectives, and activities of the college
Service Excellence
  • Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations.
  • Attends the workplace regularly and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
  • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College ( TCC )
  • Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College
  • Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College
*Performs other related tasks as required.

SUPERVISION – Works under the general supervision of the Executive Director for the Center of Teaching & Learning

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures
  • Master’s degree
  • Three (3) years of experience working in a higher education setting
  • One (1) year of experience in teaching at the post-secondary level
  • One (1) year of experience in curriculum development and delivery
  • One (1) year of experience supervising employees (e.g., managing and evaluating performance of others)
  • Demonstrated expertise in pedagogy, integrative learning, and/or active learning
Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures
  • Doctorate degree
  • Experience with instructional design and development of online curriculum
Knowledge, Skills and Ability
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, effective organizational skills with great attention to detail
  • Strong project management skills which include problem-solving and decision-making
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Proficient with educational technology such as a variety of LMS and active learning platforms
  • Detailed knowledge of leadership, communication, and self-reflective principles, with the ability to teach these concepts to others
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment and a setting that is diverse and urban
  • Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume.
  • Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice and existing regulations.
  • Ability to delegate work appropriately to faculty and staff to meet College and campus deliverables.
  • Ability to use computer applications and enterprise systems, including proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
  • Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with diverse populations
