Position Summary
The Science and Technology Entry program seeks to hire a Principal Investigator (Director) to develop and manage a grant funded program that prepares secondary school students, who are either economically disadvantaged or minorities historically underrepresented in scientific, technical, health, health-related and licensed professions, for entry into postsecondary degree programs in scientific, technical, health-related fields, and the licensed professions. Also involves establishing, cultivating, and stewarding relationships with internal and external partners as appropriate to further the mission of UB STEP . The incumbent will lead, promote, implement, and assess programming initiatives of STEP . The STEP Director reports to the Director of Student Programming, Cora P. Maloney Center ( CPMC ).
Key accountabilities and responsibilities
• Effective oversight of STEP to meet overall goals and objectives in adherence to NYSED regulations
• Management of the annual fiscal budget and regular communication with the university’s Sponsored Project Services team
• Completion of all university and NYSED reports in accordance to guidelines and deadlines
• Continuous assessment of program services
• Recruitment, hiring, training, coaching and evaluation of STEP staff members
• Ability to effectively communicate with constituents
• Outreach and recruitment of a diverse population of students to participate in the program

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
Preferred Qualifications
• At least 3 years Management Experience
• Experience in fiscal Management and Budget oversight
• At least 3 years of experience working with middle and/or high school students from historically underrepresented or economically disadvantaged groups in an educational environment
• Experience developing and implementing curriculum and or academic activities for middle and/or high school students
• Experience and knowledge with community outreach and partnerships
