POSITION TITLE: Lecturer, Full-time

DEPARTMENT/COLLEGE SUMMARY:

The programs comprising the Department of Design instruct students in areas of technical and aesthetic expertise, broaden their understanding of the history and theory of design, as well as ground students in the variety of cultural and professional practices necessary to be an effective photographer, interior architect, or graphic designer.

POSITION DETAILS:

There are two lecturer positions available with two different start dates: Spring 2022 (January 19, 2022) and Fall 2022 (August 24, 2022). This full-time, temporary, non-tenure-track appointment, which is not a probationary position, will be for a three (3) year term and will terminate at the end of the 2024/25 academic year, and does not establish consideration for subsequent appointments or any further appointment rights. However, this lectureship may be renewed annually dependent upon satisfactory performance, curricular needs, student enrollment and budget consideration.

JOB DUTIES:

Teach online and in-person lower division and upper division lecture or seminar courses covering architectural graphics and technology and/or professional architectural practice topics such as sustainable design, materials and systems, lighting, codes, and other related subjects.

Teach online and in-person lower division and upper division Interior Architecture Design Studio courses to students in the Department of Design.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Master of Architecture (M.ARCH), Master of Interior Architecture (M.I.A.) or Master of Arts (M.A.) or Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) in Interior Architecture or Interior Design.

- Knowledge of architectural design methods, principles, practices and processes which are demonstrated through your academic or professional work or teaching.

- Knowledge of architectural graphics software programs as demonstrated through your academic or professional work or teaching.

- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues as demonstrated by your academic or professional work or community service.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- College or university level teaching experience.

- Experience with professional practice and an ability to teach courses related to interior construction, material and system selection, as well as professional obligations, and building codes.

- Experience maintaining computer hardware and software.

- Experience working with students and professional colleagues with diverse backgrounds and experiences.

- Evidence of new modalities of thinking that promote sustainability, equity, diversity and inclusion as demonstrated by research, practice, curricular development, community service, or teaching.

- Professional licensure in architecture or a related field.
