Assistant Professor - Population Genetics
Location: Clemson, SC
Clemson University invites applications for a tenure-track
Assistant Professor in the Department of Genetics and Biochemistry,
with an expected start date of August 2022. Clemson University

We seek candidates with strong credentials in population genetics
research and teaching. Candidates using theoretical and/or
empirical approaches will be considered. For teaching, the primary
responsibility will be an undergraduate/graduate lecture course in
Population and Quantitative Genetics. The candidate will also
contribute to further development of the curriculum in this area at
both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Located on Lake Hartwell in the foothills of the Blue Ridge
Mountains, Clemson University is South Carolina's public land-grant
University. As a Carnegie R1 Institution, Clemson has excellent
research resources including the globally ranked Palmetto high
performance computing cluster, an excellent 56,000 square-foot
greenhouse complex, a well-equipped agriculture research farm, the
Clemson University Genomics and Bioinformatics Facility,
state-of-the-art light microscopy, electron microscopy, vivarium
facilities, and a multi-user analytical laboratory.

QUALIFICATIONS
Competitive applicants must hold a doctoral degree and have postdoctoral experience, with demonstrated ability to develop a vigorous, independent, externally funded, and nationally recognized research program. The successful candidate will be able to interact synergistically with several research groups within the Department of Genetics and Biochemistry (https://clemson.edu/genbiochem), across the College of Science (https://www.clemson.edu/science/), and across Clemson University. These groups include plant biologists, the Center for Human Genetics (https://scienceweb.clemson.edu/chg/), the Eukaryotic Pathogens Innovation Center (https://www.clemson.edu/centers-institutes/epic/), and the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences (https://www.clemson.edu/science/departments/math-stat/).
