Job Description
The Department of Music at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Music in Applied Clarinet. Responsibilities will include teaching applied clarinet and secondary areas depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will be expected to work within a team-oriented department culture and undertake other duties according to the needs of the department. Appointment will begin fall 2022.
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music. The Performing Arts Center features a concert hall with flexible acoustics designed by Jaffe-Holden Acoustics, and is the principal performance venue of the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra and the Corpus Christi Chorale, as well as student and faculty performances. Required Qualifications:
- A terminal degree in the candidate's area of expertise (DMA or
PhD). Advanced ABD will be considered; degree must be conferred at
the time of appointment. The candidate's application should address
graduation plans in the letter of application.
- Evidence of excellence in applied instruction and classroom
teaching.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Evidence of excellence in a secondary area.
- Evidence of accomplishment as a performer, teacher/mentor, and
scholar.
- Evidence of success in the ability to recruit and retain a
successful clarinet studio.
- Evidence of ability to work as a congenial colleague, including
collaborative music endeavors.
