Open Rank Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Special Education for Students with Significant Disabilities, Department of Educational Studies

The Department of Educational Studies in the College of Education and Human Ecology at The Ohio State University invites applications for a full-time (9-month) open rank tenure-track position in Special Education with a focus on students with significant disabilities.  The position will begin in August 2022.   The Department of Educational Studies has a commitment to excellence in scholarship, teaching, and service that advances the educational environment across a diversity of contexts and peoples. The Department values collaborative scholarship among colleagues in and across the College, University, and other relevant stakeholders. Qualifications: The position requires the candidate to demonstrate evidence of (Associate or Full Professor) or strong potential to gain (Assistant) a national and/or international scholarly reputation as evidenced in part by development of a strong publication record focused on special education for students with significant disabilities. Experience teaching students with significant disabilities in K-12 classrooms, board certification in applied behavior analysis, evidence of effort toward obtaining internal and external funded research, knowledge of methodological approaches, and potential to build partnerships with national and local constituents will also be viewed as strengths. We also seek a candidate who has demonstrated ability to teach and work with persons from minoritized backgrounds.

The candidate must meet the following required qualifications:

• An earned doctorate in the field of Special Education or a related field.
• A record of or potential for rigorous research and scholarship focused on special education for students with significant disabilities (i.e., students on the autism spectrum, with intellectual disability, or with multiple disabilities who have significant support needs).
• Potential to teach undergraduate courses to pre-service teachers
• Potential to teach, advise, and mentor M.A. and Ph.D. students

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be a scholar who has developed, or has the potential to develop, a national and/or international reputation in the field of special education for students with significant disabilities. Responsibilities include conducting and publishing research in top-tier journals; securing internal/external funding to support their research; teaching graduate and/or undergraduate courses; mentoring MA and Ph.D. students; engaging in curriculum development; providing support for program growth; and providing service to the department, college, university, and academic and practice communities.
