Hampden-Sydney College currently has an opening for an Associate Dean of Students for Campus and Residential Life.  Reporting to the Dean of Students, assist with maintaining administrative and operational responsibility for housing, residence life, student engagement, and student activities.  This is a 12-month, live-on/close to campus position.

Duties include:  Coordinate programming in residence halls.  With assistance of Area Coordinator(s), supervise, train, and develop Resident Assistants (RAs), evaluate performance, and make recommendations for personnel actions to the Dean of Students.  Contribute to proper operational readiness, maintenance and housekeeping needs of all residence halls, including fire alarm systems, smoke detectors, heating/cooling systems and evacuation rules and procedures in emergency situations.  Work effectively with a culturally diverse population of students in order to serve and support their distinct needs.  Review and approve all room assignments and authorize room changes within each residence hall.  Coordinate all programmatic student engagement efforts on behalf of the Office of Student Affairs.

Qualifications:  Bachelor’s Degree required.  Master's degree in Higher Education, Educational Leadership, Education Policy or other related advanced degree preferred. Minimum of three to five years of professional experience in Higher Education/Student Affairs or an equivalent combination of relevant professional and educational experience.  Demonstrated experience providing direction or supervision to professional and/or support staff.  Experience with supervision, leadership, managing conflict resolution and competing priorities preferred.
