The Forensic Science program at the University of
Nebraska-Lincoln invites applications for a faculty lecturer
position. The Forensic Chemistry track has grown in interest with
our students and attracts some of the most academically gifted
students in the program, and we are seeking a full-time, dedicated
faculty member with the appropriate background and knowledge to
fully leverage the potential of the track. This 9-month (academic
year), non-tenure track appointment will be apportioned as 100%
teaching. This position will be located in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or closely related field.
- Training or professional work experience in the field of forensic science.
- Expertise in the areas of forensic toxicology and chemistry including, but not limited to, biochemistry, toxicology, and other chemistries of toxic, hazardous, trace, and controlled materials, their chemical and physical transformation and the chemistry of the resulting products as well as conducting examinations while maintaining chain of custody and formulating interpretation results.
- Evidence of commitment to excellence in teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous professional experience in either a forensic laboratory setting, forensic science investigations unit, or as an independent forensic consultant.
- Practical experience in chemistry analytical methodologies such as gas chromatography, ultraviolet-, infrared-, and mass spectrophotometers, polarimeters, and microscopes.
