Job Description

Reporting to the Associate Director of Programs, this individual is a key employee in the Recreational Sports Department and leadership team and should be a key member in inclusion and diversity efforts. Serving as the assistant director, this individual is directing all aspects of the Intramural Sports program. This includes developing the sport offerings; organizing, planning, and administering a wide variety of activities to serve a diverse student and employee population; supervising, hiring, training and evaluating all staff including one full-time staff, two graduate assistants, and a large number student wage; in partnership with the marketing team promoting and communicating all program offerings to showcase the value of the intramural sport experience. This individual will be a part of the Recreational Sports leadership team, helping provide overall direction to a robust recreation program while adhering to departmental and institutional values.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in Sport Management/Administration, Recreation, Business, or related field
Previous professional experience in a collegiate or community recreation program management
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Creative problem solving ability
Demonstrated experience in student employee training and management
Experience with league management systems that govern intramural programs (IMLeagues, Fusion, etc.)
First Aid, CPR/AED, and Bloodborne Pathogen certified or the ability to obtain certifications

Preferred Qualifications

Experience developing and delivering video presentations to groups
Experience supervising and training full-time professional and/or graduate assistant staff
Knowledge of assessment strategies and the ability to use data to drive decisions
Experience developing and implementing policies and procedures
Experience with public speaking/presentations
Experience officiating sports
