Position Title Director of Training and Education for DEI Overview
Supports The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion’s, campus-wide educational and training programs and initiatives. Through expertise and experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, develop, facilitate and grow current and new DEI educational offerings. Coordinate campus-wide educational programming in support of becoming a beloved, inclusive community, Goal Two of the PC200 Strategic Plan. Essential Duties:
1. Design, plan and coordinate trainings for retreats, educational programs, and initiatives to develop diversity awareness and intergroup communication and engagement. Conduct campus-wide social and restorative justice training with a strong diversity component, in collaboration with campus ministry, student affairs and other campus departments across divisions. In conjunction with Human Resources develop both in-person and virtual trainings and workshops to facilitate campus community understanding of issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion and intergroup relations. In collaboration with campus, partners develop and monitor a four-year DEI learning curriculum dedicated to advancing principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion, leading to a DEI certificate for seniors. Institute and manage the Student Diversity Advisory Council ( SDAC ) and Advocates for a Beloved Community ( ABC ) and develop restorative educational practices and awareness around bias and hate incidents adversely affecting members of the campus community. Create opportunities for students, staff, faculty, and administrators to engage across differences. Serve on relevant college committees and the Community Advisor Committee.

2. Conduct comprehensive diversity, equity, and inclusion trainings/workshops that enhance the depth of understanding and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion to strengthen campus-community members’ ability to become inclusive leaders and to promote principles of DEI within their respective programs and areas.

3. Serve as a Deputy Title VI Coordinator. Working in conjunction with the Title VI Coordinator, work on addressing issues of bias and hate crimes through the Title VI process.

4. Work in tandem with Mission & Ministry, Athletics, Student Affairs, and the Center at Moore Hall to advance the Student Learning & Development pillar of the DEI framework of the College’s strategic plan.

5. Work collaboratively with the Office of Marketing and Communications to innovatively communicate the Office of IDEI brand, reflecting its mission, objectives, policies, programs, events, and other relevant information regarding DEI throughout the College. Overseeing the office website, supervising the development of the IDEI online newsletter, and managing the Office’s social media.

6. Supervise two Graduate Assistants focused on providing key assistance in the development/implementation of Advocates for a Beloved Community and the Student Diversity Advisory Council. Marginal Duties: Education and Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in higher education, counseling, or a related field from an accredited institution is required. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three to five years’ experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage several projects.
  • Experience working with diverse social and cultural groups, and campus/organizational constituencies.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and facilitating educational programming and training for a range of populations.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Experience adapting trainings to a range of populations.
  • Knowledge and Experience with Website development, software programs, and utilizing social media.
