The Boston University Wheelock College of Education and Human Development invites applications for a full-time Lecturer in Sport and Performance Psychology, which is a concentration within the EdM and PhDin Counseling Programs.  We seek candidates with a background in educating sport psychology graduate students, who have a thorough understanding of the Certified Mental Performance Consultant Certification, and who have experience in applied sport practice. The Department of Counseling Psychology and Applied Human Development, in which this program is housed, is a community of faculty and students who have a strong social justice orientation, and thus we are seeking a faculty member who shares this orientation. We believe that the cultural and social diversity of our faculty, staff, and students is vitally important to the distinction and excellence of our programs.  To that end, applicants from socio-culturally and ethnically diverse groups are strongly encouraged to apply. 

 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Teachgraduate level courses, including practicum courses for Master’s and Doctoral students 
  • Provide sport and performance psychology supervision to Master’s and Doctoral students
  • Coordinate and oversee sport psychology practicum placementsfor Master’s and Doctoral students in the Sport/Performance Psychology concentration
  • Direct the BU Sport and Performance Psychology Team, which provides sport and performance psychology services to BU teams and students-athletes and to BU performing arts students
  • Contribute to Sport Psychology program management (e.g., advise Master’s students, assist with admissions)

 
This Lecturer position begins August 1, 2022.  Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Master’s orDoctorate in Sport, Exercise, or Performance Psychology or Related Field  
  • CMPC (Certified Mental Performance Consultant – AASP, Association of Applied Sport Psychology)   

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Trainingin and experience providing mental health counseling 
  • Established record of teaching courses inSport Psychology or related fields 
  • Established record of mentoring and supervising students or professionals in Applied Sport Psychology
