GENERAL SUMMARY

The Campus Facility Manager is responsible for managing, operating and maintaining all aspects of the building facilities to ensure a safe work environment that effectively supports the goals and objectives of the institution. Familiarity with budgets, contracts, leases, purchasing, repairs, renovations and capital improvements is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Direct and oversee the maintenance, repairs and capital improvements of assigned campus facilities.
  • Oversee local facilities staff members, i.e. supervisor(s) and/or technician(s).
  • Work with local vendors to negotiate contracted services.
  • Direct security contractors, operate and maintain security and fire alarm systems; coordinate campus safety and environmental issues along with other departments.
  • Serve as first responder to after-hours emergency maintenance or repair needs.
  • Prepare and submit operating budgets, long and short-term planning and space utilization.
  • Purchase supplies and materials necessary for building maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with governing authorities and local jurisdictions such as Police and Fire Departments.
  • Serve as chair of campus safety committee which is integral in the development and implementation of campus security and emergency preparedness plans.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities that management may deem necessary from time to time.
  • Serve as point of contact for property management and landlords regarding building issues and maintenance.
  • Prepare, evaluate, and execute project work for all departments and related business concerns.

MANAGEMENT/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Direct maintenance staff and security personnel on a daily operational schedule.
  • Provide coaching and support to facilities staff.
  • Interview potential hires, evaluate staff and provide recommendations

  • Advanced knowledge and problem solving of HVAC, electrical, mechanical, security/fire systems, and code/compliance issues is essential in performing the duties of this position
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential in this position for effectively working with the campus leadership, facilities’ staff and local vendors.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • College graduate or equivalent education required.
  • Five to seven years in building management, property or facilities operation required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically MS Word and Excel. MS Project preferred
LICENSURE and/or CERTIFICATION
  • A valid state driver’s license
  • Certified Facility Manager Preferred
TRAVEL



Local travel to area businesses. Position may require travel to other campus locations as necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in a combination of classroom and office environment, plus wet lab and grounds. Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands; climb and carry ladders and work with hand and power tools. Must be able to lift 50lbs. Occasional travel required to local businesses to obtain supplies and materials.
