Opening Details

Williams College is pleased to announce the opening for a Data Analyst. The Data Analyst supports the Office of College Relations (OCR), interpreting data to provide actionable insight to inform business decisions for all departments within OCR. As part of the Advancement Operations team, the Data Analyst will also work to identify data integrity /quality issues within the data repository and resolve.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Data Analytics, Prospect Management & Research, the Data Analyst is responsible for data analytics using statistical methods and models to generate graphs, charts, heat maps, and other visualizations to assist end users in understanding the meaning behind the data. In addition, the Data Analyst will be responsible for writing and validating complex SQL queries for data mining, designing rich data visualizations to communicate complex ideas to leadership, and developing specifications and proposed layouts in partnership with end users. Collaborating with other teams within the Office of College Relations, the Data Analyst will work to maintain and achieve the highest level of data quality to build and sustain confidence in the reporting and visualization end products.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Science, or Statistics, with a minimum of two years technical experience in an office environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with tools such as Tableau, R, or PowerBI preferred
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (R, Excel, SPSS, SAS, etc.) a plus
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Innovative, energetic, flexible, and highly organized
  • Operates most efficiently in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Technical expertise creating models to forecast trends and in data mining and segmentation techniques
  • Demonstrated experience handling large and complex data sets
  • Adept at data visualization and analysis in addition to writing queries, report writing, and presenting findings
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to work in a team environment, and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
