Job Summary

Reporting to the Executive Vice President of Advancement ( EVPA ). The Development Officer is responsible for assisting the EVPA and advancement staff reach its fundraising goals by identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding focus area gifts. Manages a portfolio of high-wealth prospects by designing and developing solicitation strategies; identifying gift opportunities that match donor’s interests, and personally soliciting gifts, and continually stewarding focus area gift donors. Maintains close relations with partners, who are responsible for contributions to raising the revenue necessary to support EVPA, Foundation Board, and TCC leadership team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Performance Requirements *
  • Assists in finding donor prospects
  • Analyzes factors that predict a donor’s ability and enthusiasm to give
  • Works closely with prospect researchers to determine the best candidates for their organization’s giving program
  • Builds valuable relationships with gift prospects through developed high-quality cultivation strategies
  • Develops solicitation strategies for donors/prospects in support of the College by ensuring strategies are compatible and maximize opportunities with other existing campaigns and appeals
  • Develops gift-giving partners program for training and workshops
  • Develops and presents focus area gift proposals to prospective philanthropic partners
  • Handles extensive confidential information regarding focus area gifts
  • Complies and types statistical and budget-related reports; maintains related databases and enters new data with advancement services and accounting department staff
  • Maintains a portfolio of 50-100 focus area gift prospects
  • Designing an effective focus area gift donor stewardship program
Service Excellence
  • Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations
  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
  • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through the Tarrant County College ( TCC ) Institute
  • Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity, and service to the College
  • Supports the mission, values, and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College
Performs other related tasks as required


SUPERVISION – Works under the general supervision of the Executive Vice President of Advancement ( EVPA ).

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Fundraising, or related field
  • Three (3) years of fundraising experience or equivalent
Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures
  • Master’s degree
  • Certified Specialist in Planning Giving ( CSPG )
Knowledge, Skills and Ability
  • Ability to multi-task various projects and to maintain a broad range of personal fundraising and stewardship relationships simultaneously
  • Ability to use computer applications and enterprise systems, including proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment and a setting that is diverse and urban
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, discretion, and excellent judgment in handling sensitive information
  • Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with diverse populations
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
