Job Summary
Under the general supervision of a Food Service Supervisor, the incumbent will act as lead worker for the operation of the university owned Burger King & Taco Bell franchises or other areas as assigned duties. The incumbent will be responsible for opening and/or closing procedures and daily operation of the unit(s) providing fast food type products as appropriate to the unit. Other duties include training and leading student supervisors, subordinate students and temporary (LTE) staff in food production, sanitation and customer service. The incumbent will also function as a lead worker for other classified staff assigned to the unit(s). Daily responsibilities will include monitoring and maintaining inventory products and supplies, assuring the display and pricing of products is attractive, preparing menu items on site using approved recipes and proper timing of production to assure that products are fresh and that waste is minimized. The incumbent will interact with customers to promote sales and is responsible for accurate cash handling and customer service.

This position is located on campus in UWM Student Union. This position is a full-time (40 hours per week), nine (9) month seasonal appointment, concurrent with the academic year. This seasonal appointment will have the following unpaid work break:
Summer Break mid May to mid August
The incumbent is expected to return back to work and does not have to reapply for the position again each time there is a break.

Hours of Operation: Typically, the incumbent will be working Monday through Friday, 1st shift (8:00am-4:30pm). Nights and availability is needed if there are special events or training of personnel. Position also requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time.

Minimum Qualifications
• Experience working in a fast-paced commercial kitchen or equivalent;
• Supervisory/lead worker experience in a retail environment.

Preferred Qualifications
• ServSafe Food Manager certification or equivalent;
• Experience leading/supervising kitchen staff utilizing proper food handling procedures;
• Cash handling experience in customer service environment;
• Experience working in multiple business locations at a time;
• Experience with staff development and training;
• Experience working in a large volume operation with gross sales in excess of $1 million;
• Experience working in a higher education setting. Further experience working in higher education setting in a retail or similar area is strongly preferred.
