Helmerich School of Drama at the University of Oklahoma seeks applicants for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Performance.  This vacancy was created through faculty retirement. 

 

Required qualifications include: an MFA or equivalent professional experience, experience teaching acting in multiple styles and genres, and a significant professional profile in theatre, film or television.

 

Preferred qualifications may include:  Teaching experience in other emphasis areas in drama, film and/or television; experience directing plays, films, and/or television; experience with solo or site-specific performance; related areas of special interest; union membership, and professional affiliations.

 

The Helmerich School of Drama at the University of Oklahoma prepares students for creative and meaningful professional careers in a broad range of employment in professional theatre, dance, opera, television, film, live entertainment, industrial, and theme park venues.  All the advantages of a liberal arts education in a renowned national university are combined with intensive conservatory-style training in BFA emphases in Performance, Dramaturgy, Design (scenic, lighting, costume, and sound), and Stage Management. The School is comprised of 26 full-time faculty and staff and 152 majors.  We produce 9 mainstage productions each year in collaboration with the School of Musical Theatre, the School of Dance, and the Opera Program in the School of Music and 4-6 Lab Theatre productions.
