The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Art Department invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Painting/Illustration. Principal responsibilities will include teaching courses in contemporary painting and illustration practices (including traditional and digital) and other courses dependent on expertise and departmental needs.  Duties include teaching, studio and equipment upkeep/development, academic advising of art majors, serving on Art Department and University committees, and active participation in Art Department meetings, events, exhibitions (student and professional), and other initiatives. Opportunities exist for optional summer employment through teaching, research grants, internship supervision and other professional development options. The appointment begins in August, 2022.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Effectively teach courses in painting/illustration and other courses based on departmental needs 
  • Serve as an academic advisor to undergraduate students
  • Service to the department, college, and university

 

Required Qualifications:

  • MFA in Painting/Illustration or related field at the time of appointment
  • Minimum of three years of teaching art courses at university level 
  • Demonstrated exhibition record and involvement in professional arts communities

The salary range for this position is $54,000 – $57,000. Compensation is based on qualifications, education and experience.
