Assistant Coordinator of Extended and Distance Education



Shenandoah University’s Office of Extended and Distance Education is accepting applications for an Assistant Coordinator of Extended and Distance Education. This is a full-time benefited position located on our downtown campus in Winchester, Virginia. This position will assist the Program Director with the operations of Extended and Distance Education – Career Switcher program.


Responsibilities:


Coordinator of the Career Switcher (CS) Program. Liaison between Career Switcher students and Extended and Distance Education (XDE)
  • Acquire all Career Switcher student admission prerequisites and materials
  • Obtain background checks on all prospective students
  • Procure practicum placements with school districts
  • Liaison between the Career Switcher students and school districts
  • Collects program and instructor evaluation data
  • Obtains all cooperating teacher evaluations of CS students
  • Prepares individual students’ Virginia Department of Education licensure packets
  • Coordinates and facilitates CS Phase I and Phase II program schedules
  • Creates and builds Canvas LMS course shells for course cohorts
  • Provides faculty and student support and training in Zoom and Canvas.
  • Data entry and reporting
  • Assists with grant reports, developing schedules of classes
  • Electronic filing, maintaining student records and program invoicing, Order supplies
  • Maintains Career Switchers website
  • Coordinates and assists with Career Switcher and XDE recruitment events (virtual and in-person). Requires a minimum of 2 evenings a month as well as four Saturdays a semester.
General Office Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Answering phones (including program inquiries), Handle correspondence, data entry and reporting, assisting with grant reports, developing schedules of classes; electronic and paper filing, maintaining student records, assisting students with registration, order supplies, and any other duties or responsibilities as assigned.
  • Occasional evening/weekend duties may be necessary
Required Skills

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills; must possess the ability to maintain confidentiality; and to interact pleasantly with the public, faculty, staff, and students
  • Effective use of Microsoft Office Suites, Google Drive, Canvas, Apple Products
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities: Must be able to show initiative in getting assignments completed
Physical Environment and requirements:
  • Lift 25 pounds – may be required to move file boxes periodically
  • Office environment with light to moderate physical activities, ergonomic workspace conditions
  • May be required to travel to Scholar Plaza campus or other locations as needed
