The Presbyterian College Biology Department invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level starting in August 2022. We are seeking a highly qualified individual with specific expertise in developmental biology. Successful candidates will hold a PhD in Developmental Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or an equivalent degree and demonstrate commitment to pursuing excellence in science teaching within a liberal arts curriculum. Teaching responsibilities will include developing an upper-level developmental biology course, contributing to the introductory biology sequence, and teaching an upper-level genetics course as needed. Candidates are expected to develop an active research program mentoring undergraduates within a teacher-scholar framework and will have the opportunity to pursue external funding and publications for advancing the undergraduate research endeavors of the department. The candidate will have the opportunity to be supported by the department’s NIH-funded South Carolina-INBRE research program. Additionally, the candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to a cross-department Biochemistry program accredited by the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) as well as contribute to our recently developed Computational Biology program.
