Assistant Professor - School of Social Work

Position Description: Cleveland State University’s School of Social Work is searching for a full-time tenure track appointment as an Assistant Professor in policy and related academic areas beginning August 22nd, 2022.  Cleveland State University is an urban campus serving a racially, culturally, and economically diverse student body of over 16,000 undergraduate and graduate students.  CSU is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. The successful candidate will be prepared to teach both web-based and face-to-face classes at the graduate and undergraduate level (a total of five courses per academic year), must carry an active research agenda, and expect to engage in usual university and community service.  The School of Social Work educates students of various ethnic and cultural backgrounds and values a diverse faculty and staff. 

Minimum Qualifications:  Master of Social Work degree; Ph.D. in Social Work or related field by July 1, 2022; and potential to teach policy and related academic areas at the undergraduate and graduate levels.  ABDs may apply with a letter from their dissertation chair indicating their projected defense date being before July 1st, 2022.  ABD candidates will be hired at the rank of Instructor.

Preferred Qualifications: Beginning record of publication; two years post-MSW practice experience; experience teaching policy and related undergraduate and/or graduate courses; an affinity for teaching both face-to-face and web-based courses; research interests in health policy and health disparities, and the ability to contribute through teaching and/or service to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the academic community.
