Health Promotion and Physical Education

 

Kennesaw State University invites applications for a nine-month, non-tenure track Lecturer of Health and Physical Education faculty position in the Department of Health Promotion and Physical Education starting August 1, 2022.

 

The Department seeks a faculty member who can provide leadership and teaching support for a growing coaching education minor as well as instructional capacity for courses in the health and physical education major. The bulk of duties will fall under coaching education. Responsibilities include:

 

  1. Developing and teaching coaching education
  2. Mentoring students’ curricular, field -based learning, and assisting with internship activities in the coaching
  3. Demonstrating an ability to foster collaborative relationships across disciplines, with the community at-large, and within the health, physical education, and coaching
  4. Performing institutional and professional service tasks necessary to enhance program, departmental, college, and university goals.

 

The successful candidate must have an earned masters degree, or its foreign equivalent, in kinesiology, coaching education, health and physical education, physical activity, or other closely related field. Candidates must have excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication and teaching skills, experience collaborating with others, experience in supervision and is active in serving the discipline through professional service.

 

The successful candidate should have: 1) Successful teaching experience at the college level in an area related to coaching education, health, fitness, and physical education, 2) Current or recent experience in higher education; 3) The desire to cultivate partnerships for internships and experiential learning; 4) Familiarity with experiential teaching methods in all types of course modalities; 5) Evidence of strong commitment to student success; and 6) Experience with students learning outcomes assessment.
