Salary range starts at: $10.30 per hour

Job Summary:
The building monitor is responsible for monitoring all building functions during the evenings when classes are offered. The monitor is responsible for the general safety of the education complex and students during this period. This is a part-time position expected to work 1-3 scheduled shifts per week during each 8-week session; or as-needed during mid-terms and final examinations.
  • Keep record of Columbia College faculty departures as they leave the building at the end of the day upon Director request.
  • Maintain vigilance inside and outside the building for suspicious activities. Notify location Director and appropriate authority as needed.
  • Provide faculty with support as requested to use audio-visual equipment, make minor repairs, or configure equipment in the classroom.
  • Submit report of accidents, incidents, or other situations that occur regarding students or instructors to location director the next day. If it is emergent then contact the location director as soon practicable.
  • Unlock and lock classrooms. After the last evening class has been dismissed, ensure the building is empty of all faculty and students, and then make sure all exterior/interior doors are securely locked.
  • Accompany students to their vehicles if requested.
  • Assist faculty with support as requested to use audio-visual equipment, make minor repairs, or configure equipment in the classroom

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Basic computer skills
  • At least one year security experience
