Provides academic instruction in assigned Sociology classes and academic support to students in the department.

Essential Duties Summary

Teaches classes in the Department of Sociology. Provides academic support to students in the form of assessment, evaluation, and mentoring. Performs other job-related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Successful candidate will be required to contribute in teaching and student support at a level necessary to help the department function effectively. Successful candidate should demonstrate a commitment to mentoring students. Must have excellent verbal, written and presentation skills. Must be able to work with a diverse student and faculty population. Must be able to use personal computers, Microsoft Office software and have familiarity with typical academic support systems such as Blackboard.

Work Experience

Requires a minimum of one year of experience teaching sociology courses at the post-secondary level. Applicants who have served as Teaching Assistants for at least two academic semesters in graduate Sociology programs will also be deemed to have met the minimum work experience requirement.
