Job Description
Under the direction of the CALS Director of Alumni Relations, the Assistant Director of Constituent Relations administers Virginia Cooperative Extension’s engagement program through program/event planning, effective communication methods, volunteer and donor stewardship, and data/records management.
Reports to the CALS Director of Alumni Relations and works collaboratively with the members of Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE), CALS Advancement, and University Advancement to pursue and promote institutional objectives related to engagement, communications, fundraising, and donor/volunteer stewardship of VCE constituents. Works collaboratively as a CALS Advancement team member to achieve overarching goals of securing resources to enhance the mission of VCE and promote positive public understanding of the organization.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; Experience with special event planning; Experience developing effective strategies to foster relationships and engagement. Ability to comfortably and effectively interact with volunteers and donors of all levels; Familiarity with advancement and/or volunteer programs; Ability to interact with the varied constituencies of the university; Ability to embrace collaborative teamwork in a complex organization; Ability to work with vendors, budgets, designers/printers, contracts, and bill payment; Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills; Ability to multitask, work independently, and pay close attention to detail in a fast paced, deadline oriented team environment; Experience working with computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Doodle and Google; Willing to work evenings/weekends and travel as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with and knowledge of donor stewardship practices; experience with and knowledge of youth programs such as 4-H and FFA; experience with crowdfunding and mobile giving platforms; experience with event management and project management systems; knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Blackbaud (or a similar database), CANVA Enterprise, Zoom, video and website editing. Experience in the agricultural and/or life sciences industries. Knowledge of Cooperative Extension.
