Job Description

The HR Generalist will coordinate, coach, and execute HR activities in the functional areas of classification and compensation, employee relations, performance management, recruitment and selection, onboarding, and compliance areas. This position will report to the Advancement Human Resources Director and be assigned as needed to support Advancement. The Human Resources Generalist will collaborate as part of the Advancement HR team to provide human resources programs, services and support to leadership and staff. |HR Generalist will partner with Hiring Managers and Business Leaders to understand their business and talent needs in order to produce effective people and process based solutions. HR Generalist will collaborate leveraging critical thinking and influencing skills to resolve complex and challenging situations. HR Generalist will develop methods and procedures for compiling and analyzing data for reports and special projects. Also, the incumbent will contribute to our positive and inclusive work community by building trusting partnerships across Virginia Tech and the Advancement Division.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or other related field.

Previous experience providing HR support in an advanced HR Assistant or Generalist role.

Possesses demonstrated working knowledge of HR principles and practices such as, onboarding, employee relations, orientation and training, job analysis and evaluation, classification, compensation, recruitment, selection and performance management, equal opportunity and affirmative action, research; and policy interpretation.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, complex projects and day to day operations independently and proactively while meeting established deadlines.

Consulting experience in business and/or HR operations.

Proven experience in managing large scale programs.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Human Resources or other related field.

Professional HR certification such as PHR, SPHR, CCP, etc.

HR experience in a college or university setting.

Previous experience working with Banner HRIS, PageUp or similar ATS.

Experience working with employment based visa petitions and applications.
