Position Type/Salary: This is a tenure-track faculty appointment in the department of Biology, Geology and Environmental Science. Salary is competitive and commensurate with academic preparation and experience. An excellent fringe benefits package is included.
Job Summary/Basic Functions: The Department of Biology, Geology, and Environmental Sciences is seeking applicants for a tenure-track position in Anatomy and Physiology. The successful candidate is expected to teach upper division undergraduate lecture/laboratory courses in Anatomy and Physiology, basic Anatomy and Physiology courses for nursing and veterinary technology students, and a variety of undergraduate courses which could include Cell Culture, Histology, Parasitology, Cell Biology, Cell Physiology, Immunology, and courses in their area of expertise.
The successful applicant must be capable of and committed to effective teaching, scholarly growth, and service. They should have experience with program assessment and working with diverse populations and will be responsible for developing an externally funded research program involving students. Additional responsibilities include involvement with departmental, college-wide, and university committees.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: In order to be a leading applicant in this search, in addition to the aforementioned requirements, the applicant minimally must be fluent in the English language, able to communicate well, experienced in program-level assessment of student learning and the effective use of innovative curricular approaches that are student-centered, inquiry-based, and hands-on oriented. The candidate must also be able to demonstrate outstanding potential for excellence in teaching through a successful interview and /or classroom demonstration.
Minimum of Education and Training: A Ph.D. in Biology, Anatomy, Physiology or a related field is required by the time of employment, and college teaching experience is strongly preferred.
