As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University's Ancilla College seeks a part-time tutor to promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by assisting students with understanding course content and material through tutoring appointments. This position is projected for the academic school year, generally from August 1 to mid-May. The job performance and personal conduct of each Tutor directly impacts the University’s ability to achieve its mission of service to the students and community. Tutoring hours vary but cannot exceed 20 hours a week.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.

• Assist Marian University's Ancilla College students with understanding course content and material through tutoring appointments

• Report for shifts and student appointments on time, with all necessary materials to tutor

• Devote full attention to tutoring duties for the entire work period (shifts and appointments)

• Work with Tutoring program leadership to create solutions to program-wide and/ or student issues

• Keep an accurate and consistent schedule for tutoring appointments

• Commit to a reasonable response time to inquiries from tutoring staff and MUAC students

• Adhere to FERPA/Confidentiality guidelines

• Attending tutor trainings at the start of (and throughout) each academic year

• Adhere to Ancilla College of Marian University student code of conduct and academic integrity The ideal candidate will have:

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Taken the course(s) and received at least a B+ to tutor
  • Obtained professor recommendation to tutor the course(s)
  • Experience working in-person (Tutoring Center) and virtually (Zoom or WebEx)
  • Demonstrated experience of helping or leading peers (in any capacity)
  • Ability to explain course concepts through different methods
