The Department of Health Sciences at James Madison University offers a dynamic Bachelors of Health Sciences curriculum. The awarded credential provides opportunities for immediate employment in multiple allied health areas and a pathway to professional school and graduate study in medicine, optometry, pharmacy, nursing, public health and other professional preparation programs. We invite applications for a renewable term Lecturer 10-month appointment to meet these positive growth trends, with an opening beginning Fall 2022.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will teach large (>150 students) Personal Wellness classes and undergraduate courses within the B.S. in Health Sciences curriculum (https://www.healthsci.jmu.edu/). Thus, competitive candidates will have prior university teaching experience and training and expertise with teaching large class sizes.

 

Qualifications:

Candidates must have a doctoral, ABD, or MS degree in public health, health sciences, health education and promotion, or related field. Applicants holding a CHES and/or CPH credential may be given preference.

 

Candidates must possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching. As this position is for an RTA Lecturer, research and service expectations will not be the same as those for a tenure-track position. Candidates must also demonstrate an appreciation for the preparation of undergraduate students for graduate education or professional programs (e.g., public health, physician assistant, occupational therapy, physical therapy, medicine).
