The Engineering Technology Program is part of the Department of Engineering Leadership and Society in the College of Engineering at Drexel University. The Department seeks to educate a new generation of engineers who are prepared to address the complex challenges of the 21st century with analytical minds and community-focused hearts. Through a comprehensive set of degree and certificate programs in these areas, the department enables students to gain perspectives on industry and technology as critical functions of society.

Job Summary

This is a part-time, non-tenure track position. The Adjunct Instructor will teach Thermodynamics I course in the winter term 2021-2022. The course is offered face to face at Drexel University’s main campus and it is scheduled during the daytime. The course is lecture bases and meets twice a week for hour and 20 minutes each. The course starts in January 2022 and ends in March 2022.

The course will cover the general theory of heat and matter; laws of thermodynamics; energy-transformation principles and availability of energy; and properties and processes for substances and ideal gases.

Essential Functions
  • Teach the lecture twice a week, face to face.
  • Use Black Board Learn for class materials, assignments, and grading.
  • Keep records, post grades (mid-term & final), submit attendance reporting, and mentor students. Provide students with feedback.
  • Submit ABET course assessment reports and course binders.
  • Responsible for updating the syllabus but keep it consistent with the course requirements and meet program objectives and standards.
  • Post and maintain office hours.
  • Other duties as assigned by department head.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Ph.D. preferred.
  • Prior experience in teaching mechanical engineering related courses.
