Position Description
The Faculty of Arts
and Sciences at Columbia University in the City of New York invites
applications for the Korea Foundation Professor of Korean Studies
in the Social Sciences. We seek a scholar in the social sciences
who may be appointed at the rank of professor or associate
professor with tenure. The successful candidate may be appointed in
any social science department within the Arts and Sciences,
including anthropology, economics, history, political science,
sociology, or may be appointed in the Department of East Asian
Languages and Cultures. Beyond teaching undergraduate and graduate
courses in the field of specialization, the incumbent will be
expected to participate in the activities of the Weatherhead East
Asian Institute as well as play a leadership role at the Center for
Korean Research, which is a research center within the Weatherhead.
The successful candidate will be a leading scholar in the field who
sustains an active research and publication agenda.

Qualifications
PhD required at the time of
appointment. Candidates should demonstrate scholarly promise and
achievement and excellence in teaching. Finalists will meet the
current departmental needs for coverage in selected
subfields.
