he Department of Art, Communication, and English at Carlow University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in digital communication at the rank of assistant professor. This is a full-time 9-month position beginning August 2022. The primary instructional responsibilities of the candidate will include some combination of Communication courses including the following: Digital Communication, Writing for the Media, Media & Society, Media Criticism, Media and Crime, Advertising, Organizational Communication, and Media and Social Change. Opportunities to teach additional classes for majors and non-majors will be dependent on the applicant's qualifications and the needs of the department. The position will include participation in admissions and recruitment events and activities, as well as other service to the department, college, and university.   Requirements/Qualifications
  • Applicants must hold an PhD in Communication or a related discipline and maintain a research agenda. Area of specialization is open but the applicant must demonstrate expertise in digital media and communication.
  • Applicants must have a minimum of 1 year teaching experience at the college/university level (may include part-time, adjunct, or TA experience) and must demonstrate knowledge and experience sufficient to enable the candidate to effectively teach and develop courses as assigned in the department.
  • Also desirable is experience teaching in a variety of modalities (online included) and a willingness to work in an interdisciplinary environment that also houses Art and English programs.
  • Interest in teaching and developing interdisciplinary courses and initiatives is preferred.
  In addition, applicants must be committed to envisioning the future of liberal arts education in a rapidly changing environment; have experience working with diverse populations; have a demonstrated ability to engage students in issues of race and equity; and be able to articulate how they will contribute to Carlow University’s Catholic, Mercy mission and values through their teaching, scholarship, and service.   Please submit letter of introduction, CV, statement of teaching philosophy, and contact information for three references by December 1, 2021.
