The Department of Clinical and Administrative Pharmacy in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Georgia is seeking to grow and diversify its programs through investments in faculty with expertise in how genetics, the environment, and lifestyle inform the most efficacious approaches to prevent and treat diseases of humans and animals. The hiring is part of a campus-wide Presidential Interdisciplinary Faculty Hiring that aims to recruit 50 faculty members who will educate students and advance research in these areas. Rather than being housed exclusively in a single department, however, the majority of UGA’s newly recruited faculty will focus on the fusion of cross-cutting areas such as biomedical sciences, integrative precision agriculture, ethics, cybersecurity, resilient communities and the environment.

The College of Pharmacy will utilize this initiative to demonstrate our commitment to diversifying our faculty and ensure that we maintain and grow the culture of equity and inclusivity in our College. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are core values of the University and Colleges, and this hiring initiative will make use of the best practices to ensure an inclusive search process. The Diversity and Inclusion Plan for our College identifies priority areas for our investments and through the 2021-2022 academic year we will develop a Diversity Strategic Plan as part of a campus-wide effort.

The focus of this hiring initiative will be in the field of Precision One Health, and will be part of a cluster spanning the College of Pharmacy, College of Veterinary Medicine, Savannah River Ecology Laboratory, College of Public Health, and the College of Engineering. Areas of research might include, but are not limited to pharmaceutical outcomes research, health services research, health policy, pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacoeconomics, social and administrative sciences, or a related field.

The University of Georgia has world-renowned departmental programs in pharmaceutical health services, outcomes and policy. The candidate will be appointed in the Department of Clinical and Administrative Pharmacy with the position being physically located on the main UGA campus in Athens, GA. The Department of Clinical and Administrative Pharmacy is home to 32 faculty members focusing in various areas of the pharmaceutical sciences including health economics, administration, finance, marketing, epidemiology, psychology and clinical and experimental therapeutics. The College is also home to the UGA Center for Drug Discovery, which houses chemical libraries and facilities for high-throughput screening against a variety of therapeutic targets.

As part of the University of Georgia’s Precision One Health hiring initiative, the Department of Clinical and Administrative Pharmacy invites applications for a full-time open rank tenure track position. The Initiative seeks to understand how genetics, the environment, and lifestyle inform the most efficacious approaches to prevent and treat health conditions. The goal is to design optimal preventive or therapeutic care that provides the individual patient with the best treatment at the right time. The initiative follows a translational science paradigm using evidence-based research to support the implementation of more refined approaches to improving the health of individual patients.

The Department of Clinical and Administrative Pharmacy is seeking an outstanding candidate to join its Pharmaceutical Health Services, Outcomes, and Policy (PHSOP) program to provide leadership in research, instruction and service. The PHSOP program is an interdisciplinary program that investigates structure, processes, and outcomes of pharmaceutical and overall health care systems. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. degree or similar academic training in pharmaceutical outcomes research, health services research, health policy, pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacoeconomics, social and administrative sciences, or a related field. The position is a full time, 9-month, tenure track position at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor.

The primary duties of the faculty member will be to establish an extramurally-funded research program, teach in the graduate (Ph.D.) and professional (Pharm.D.) programs, and provide leadership within the departmental to advance excellence in its research and educational programs. Priority will be given to those with a track record of funded research, quality teaching and innovations, and expertise in health disparities and health equity, precision medicine, health outcomes, large secondary data analysis (e.g., Big Data), and/or dissemination and implementation science.
