Job Summary:

The CTLM communications manager will provide leadership and coordination of all communications produced and distributed by the center. In collaboration with the CTLM leadership and staff, the communications manager will lead the development and implementation of strategic communications planning for the center. The communications manager will also work in collaboration with the CTLM staff to develop and coordinate communications specific to each group within the CTLM, while maintaining common branding/themes across all departmental communications. This is a new position in a new center, which presents a unique and exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to shape this role by recommending practices that will foster effective communications strategies among the CTLM staff and with the center's stakeholders (including instructors and campus partners).

The Center for Teaching, Learning and Mentoring (CTLM) aims to improve learning for all students by advancing the craft of teaching at UW-Madison. In collaboration with crucial work done in and by schools and colleges, the CTLM supports UW-Madison faculty and staff in their continued growth as practitioners of the complex, challenging and dynamic craft of teaching. The CTLM will serve instructors at all career stages by coordinating campus-level professional development, course design, media production, and instructional consulting programs and services.

This position reports to the Associate Director for Evaluation and Project Management in the CTLM.

The Center for Teaching, Learning and Mentoring is part of the Division for Teaching and Learning (DTL), along with Undergraduate Advising and Career Services, the Wisconsin Institute for Science Education and Community Engagement (WISCIENCE) and Student Learning Assessment (SLA).

Education:

Required
Bachelor's Degree

Qualifications:

-A minimum of 3 years of professional experience working in a communications role.
-Superb writing and editing skills across media with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to write with clarity, accuracy, and brevity.
-Experience with bias-free, inclusive communication strategies.
-Demonstrated achievement in creating communications calendars; managing multiple, concurrent projects; attention to detail; and meeting deadlines.
-Experience with communications in higher education or ability to quickly learn about communications in a higher education environment.
-Website development and editing skills using a content management system such as WordPress.
-Skills in graphic design with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) or similar programs.
