Job Summary:

Under the supervision of a member of the Mental Health Services Leadership Team, the Health Profession Mental Health Provider (Student of Color Focus)/Generalist Clinician will provide a hybrid of clinical services to UW-Madison students. This provider will spend 20 hours a week providing clinical services to students in the School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) with a special emphasis on working with students of color, and up to an additional 20 hours providing clinical services to the general student population of UW-Madison.

This position provides direct clinical service in response to the needs of the student population, participates in clinical crisis services and on-call mental health services, outreach services, and campus crisis response. Mental health providers also may administer and interpret limited assessment measures, work in conjunction with Medical services on behavioral health interventions, and supervise assigned trainees, including goal setting, evaluations, and disciplinary action in accordance with training policy and procedures.

The Health Professions provider develops collaborative relationships with SMPH as well as other campus and ccommunity partners. The provider demonstrates a commitment to providing culturally-responsive services and serving under-represented/underserved populations and providing a multicultural perspective on the mission, vision, policies, procedures, and training within UHS as it relates to SMPH health profession student services.

All providers are expected to follow agency policies and procedures consistent with state mental health statutes, ethical guidelines, best practices, HIPAA, and FERPA; and maintain accurate and timely documentation

Qualifications:

Strongly preferred work experiences/qualities of the candidate include:
1) Demonstrated ability to provide clinical services, consultation and outreach to diverse undergraduate, graduate and/or professional students in a college health setting
2) Experience in consultation and collaboration with campus or community partners and provision of campus-based services/outreach
3) Ability to effectively serve individuals with diverse social identities and life experiences, with demonstrated interest and experience in serving clients of color
4) Demonstrated attentiveness to intersectionality & health disparities, and commitment to multiculturalism and serving underrepresented populations
5) Experience participating in multidisciplinary teams including health profession and academic faculty/staff
6) Experience in adult mental health crisis assessment, brief intervention, and confidentiality requirements
7) Experience in supervision of trainees
8) Excellent oral and written communication skills
