Central State University invites applications for the position of
Director of the Social Work Program beginning Spring Semester
January 2022 or Fall Semester August 2022. The University seeks a
progressive leader with vision and a strong commitment to cultural
diversity, excellence in Social Work and expertise to build on the
existing strengths of the Social Work Program, while sustaining a
sense of community among students and faculty.
The Social Work Program at Central State is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and is housed in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences. The Social Work Program boasts a robust enrollment and offers both the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in Social Work. The Social Work program is unique because it is embedded in an interdisciplinary environment where faculty members teach across curricula.
This is a tenure-track position—salary and rank negotiable (Assistant or Associate Professor rank). Central State University is seeking a creative and motivated faculty member to serve as the Director of the Social Work Program. The Program Director will be charged with building the program and taking it to the next level. The Program Director will be able to re-imagine from the vision level down to the curriculum and more. This full-time (9-month) position requires teaching two courses each semester with a primary assignment to Social Work courses; managing curriculum, recruitment, and retention; advising Social Work students; engaging in scholarship, and service to the department, college, university, profession and community, and overall support of the Social Work program. Minimum Qualifications • An earned MSW degree from a CSWE accredited MSW program;
• An earned doctorate in Social Work (PhD or DSW) or related field is preferred;
• Leadership experience in academia;
• Two years of post-MSW practice experience (direct or community practice);
• Commitment and excellence in teaching and mentorship;
• Evidence of research scholarship;
• Vision, energy, and creativity for building the program;
• Extensive experience with the accreditation process of CSWE.
