Director of Health Professions Pathways Programs

Marian University has an opening for a Full-Time Director of Health Professions Pathways Programs. This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and provides leadership and direction in creating pathways that support recruiting and educating talented and diverse students for the health professions academic programs. Marian University has a strong commitment to educating transformational leaders for service to the world and nowhere is this more relevant than the health professions, which include the undergraduate and graduate academic programs affiliated with the Leighton School of Nursing (LSON), College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM), and Exercise and Sports Science (ESS). 

The Director of Health Professions Pathways Programs will promote Marian University’s Catholic Franciscan mission and identity through its primary responsibilities including leading and coordinating the annual MU Healthcare Summer Camp, facilitating regular and ongoing communication and relationships with local K-12 school systems, organizing and leading the MU Health Professions Pathways Mentoring Program, and create relationships and maintain engagement with alumni of the health professions academic programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Actively engages the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values, honoring the legacy of the founding congregation, promoting unity in diversity, and integrating the Catholic Franciscan Intellectual traditions in courses, programs, and services.
• Serves as the lead agent in planning and facilitating the annual MU Healthcare Summer Camp, including the coordination of camp marketing, communication, application process, schedule & content, budget, etc. 
• Establishes and maintains relationships with, and serves as a lead communicator with, K-12 school system administrators, guidance counselors, teachers, parents, and students, with a special focus on populations that identify as underrepresented, specifically as it relates to pathways programs of the health professions. 
• Establishes and maintains relationships with, and serves as a lead communicator with, local community organizations who serve underrepresented populations, such as the Center for Leadership Development, Starfish Initiative, Indiana Latino Institute, and 21st Century Scholars, specifically as it relates to pathways programs of the health professions. 
• Serve as the lead agent in organizing and implementing the MU Health Professions Pathways Mentoring Program, a program aimed at connecting underrepresented middle and high school students with current MU health professions students and alumni in healthcare careers. 
• Actively seeks and communicates community service outreach opportunities (tutoring, health and wellness education, school supply drives, community clean-ups, etc.) connecting current LSON and COM students with local K-12 school systems. 
• In conjunction with the MU Office of Advancement and Alumni Affairs, create relationships with LSON and COM alumni, with special attention on underrepresented alumni, to encourage volunteerism, mentoring, and other means of engagement. 
• Promotes the university’s mission and identity by helping foster an environment dedicated to diversity, inclusion, and belongingness. 
• Maintains a strong and collaborative relationship with the MU Office of Undergraduate Admissions and MU Office of 21st Century Scholars.
• Serves as a key leader in promoting diversity and inclusion programming, including participating in the health professions diversity taskforce.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.
• Previous experience with admissions/recruitment, student affairs, or leadership programs within an institution of K-12 education or higher education desired. 
• Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of Marian University.
• Excellent verbal, written, collaborative, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong computer skills with a proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to prioritize and perform multiple projects concurrently, and work under minimal supervision
• Communicate effectively with internal & external groups.
