The Department of Teaching, Leadership, and Professional Practice is seeking a nine-month tenure track Assistant Professor starting August 16, 2022.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will serve as a tenure track Assistant Professor in Elementary Education, with primary responsibilities in research, teaching, advising, and service. The successful candidate will participate in research and grant activities, teach two courses per semester, supervise graduate students, and participate in service. This includes a commitment to addressing diversity, inclusion, social justice and equity in education through research, teaching, service and mentoring. Additional teaching opportunities are available in summer. Salary is dependent on qualifications and may be increased through grant-procuring activities.

This position aims to recruit an elementary education research-practitioner with research expertise in an area such as: rural education, remote-learning environments, school and  community partnerships, teacher education, instructional leadership, participatory and/or action research.

Minimum Requirements: 

  • EdD/PhD in Elementary Education or related field
  • Minimum of three years teaching experience in K-12 schools
  • Experience in teaching courses in Elementary Education depending on area/s of expertise
  • Demonstration of working with diverse communities
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Record of scholarly research publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience in writing grants and securing external funding
  • Experience in service commitment to the profession
  • Demonstration of collaborations in rural or tribal communities
  • Experience in teaching in remote-learning or online courses
  • Participatory and/or action research
