Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Marshall Center for Intercultural Learning staff provide academic, social, cultural, and co-curricular programs and services in support of the College’s academic mission. Our staff provide support and services designed to positively impact the success and retention of students of color.
The purpose of the position is to provide primary administrative support to Marshall Center staff, budget management, program and event coordination, maintain social media accounts, list-servs and databases. Support, hiring, training and supervising of student workers. Provide support for students, Center initiatives and various programs by maintaining effective communications and working relationships with academic departments and campus collaborators. Must have excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills to be able to interact with and support a diverse community.
Responsible for managing the daily operational functions of the Marshall Center including greeting visitors, setting up appointments, overseeing student workers and providing support to Center staff and programs. As the front-line person at the Center, this person is often the first to respond to students (sometimes in crisis) so this position serves as an intake person to determine what student needs and make an appropriate staff referral.
Coordinate arrangements for programs and speakers, including travel, reserving campus rooms, catering, mailings and other relevant details. Assist in the planning, execution and coordination of campus-wide celebrations, community outreach, and educational programs; attend events as needed.
Hire, train and supervise student workers with a focus on developing student talent.
Prepare agenda and minutes for staff meetings, maintain operational calendar, maintain Google Drive files, assist in compilation and preparation of annual reports. Assist with Center assessment projects. Assist with budget reporting and management. Track co-sponsorship with cultural clubs, faculty and staff departments.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associates degree required, Bachelor’s preferred. Minimum 1-3 years work experience required; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to diversity and intercultural education. Possess a strong desire to work with college students and an understanding and sensitivity to issues and concerns faced by underrepresented students. Strong interpersonal communication skills, sensitivity and experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds; Must possess integrity and initiative, with a demonstrated history of working both independently and as a member of a team; Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks successfully; Secretarial/receptionist, administrative support, word processing, and database management skills required. Attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience in educational setting preferred.
Experience with Banner.
