In addition to daily post-production responsibilities, including audio and video editing in support of online course development, the Lead Video Editor will supervise and mentor the post-production team (editors) and identify needed resources, facilitate team learning, and address issues with team dynamics. The Lead Video Editor will foster development of the post-production team and model exemplary behaviors that emphasize the importance of Mission, Vision, and Values in support of the overall organizational missions of University College and Syracuse University. This person will act as the primary post-production contact when interfacing with CODL leadership and outside program administrators. The Lead Editor will conduct Performance Partnership reviews and guide team members in professional growth strategies. Additionally, there is a necessity for a single knowledgeable representative from the editing team to discuss and implement improvements to standards, processes and technical enhancements. This person will also collaborate with leaders from other functional areas of CODL and support house-wide growth and staff development initiatives. Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Film, Communication, or similar field is required.
  • Three (3) plus years of prior post-production experience with emphasis on film, video, and audio editing.
  • Evidence of group supervision/team leadership preferred but not essential.
  • Practical film/video studio production experience preferred but not essential.
Job Specific Qualifications
  • Expert knowledge of data management, equipment compatibility, and post-production workflow.
  • Software: Adobe Premiere, Media Encoder After Effects, Photoshop, Audition and Davinci Resolve.
  • Understanding of basic computer network concepts.
  • Ingest, logging, syncing, and organization of media. Post-production project setup, editing, on-lining, archiving video, delivery, and managing of digital assets.
  • Assemble footage into string outs, rough, fine and final cuts while maintaining professional standards.
  • Perform initial color correction passes and preliminary sound sweetening.
  • Provide graphics support utilizing Adobe After Effects and Creative Suite.
  • Ensure quality control and consistency on final deliverable’s utilizing and recommending advanced technologies, workflows, and post-production methodologies.
  • Archiving and maintaining record of master files, making sure all footage is secured and backed up.
Responsibilities
  • Editing of video and audio programming in support of online course development.
  • Follows industry best practices for implementation of post-production strategies.
  • Encode, upload and manage various stages of post-production output.
  • Continually refine and evaluate content for efficiencies in the production process and provide feedback to the design team.
  • Supervises and mentors Post-Production Team.
  • Identifies resource needs, addresses team issues and listens to customer concerns.
  • Provides updates and timely feedback to Production Manager (planned).
  • The Lead Video Editor is responsible for communicating and managing the consistency in editing processes as well as the post-production quality of the content.
  • Communicates with team members and encourages a customer-centric approach to internal and external service strategies.
  • Collaborate with Instructional Designers, Multimedia Artists and Production Staff on script markup decisions, course design strategies, and production processes in support of high-quality outcomes and impactful course development.
  • Backup production services in support of CODL studio operations.
