Summary

The University of Houston Downtown invites applications for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Nonprofit Management, beginning Fall 2022.  The University of Houston-Downtown’s Master’s in Nonprofit Management program is a vibrant nationally ranked interdisciplinary online graduate program. In addition to Ph.D. tenure-track and full-time faculty, the MNPM program includes adjunct faculty made up of CEOs from some of the finest nonprofit organizations in the country.  Roughly 75% of the students in the program are women, two-thirds are African American or Hispanic, most are First-Generation to College, and most work full-time.

  Qualifications   Candidates must possess a Ph.D. from an accredited institution in non-profit management or related academic field at the time of employment. 

 

Preferred:

Candidates will demonstrate a sustained record, equivalent to the rank of Associate Professor (already tenured who also meets departmental criteria)or advanced Assistant Professor (experience on the tenure-track preferred), with an active research agenda featuring peer-reviewed publications focusing on non-profit management and related fields, the intentional use of teaching methods that promote participation and engagement of a range of students, particularly those with marginalized identities, and the potential for an active service life within and outside of the university.

Preference will be given to candidates who specialize in the nonprofit fields of philanthropy and/or community development.  Preferred qualifications for the position include experience in administration, including program direction, coordination and assessment, and ​student recruitment.  Candidates who have experience in and are committed to academic program development, including developing new classes at the graduate and undergraduate level, will also be preferred. Candidates will be able to teach face-to-face, hybrid, and online undergraduate and graduate courses in nonprofit and related fields in the social sciences.
