Applications are invited for appointment as Clinical Practitioner in Community Dental Care in the Faculty of Dentistry (Ref.: 508940), to commence in December 2021 for 15 months.

The Faculty of Dentistry is the only dental school in Hong Kong and is the only one in Greater China that uses English as the medium of instruction. The high quality of the Faculty’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, clinical services and research excellence attained global recognition, as evidenced by the Faculty’s World Number Ranking among the top 1% by the QS World University Ranking by Subject for seven consecutive years. The Faculty’s strategic research themes include Clinical Artificial Intelligence, Craniofacial Regeneration, Microbiome Innovation, Oral Cancer, and Population Oral Health. The Faculty also plays an important role in public and professional education through its knowledge exchange activities as well as in dental and oral health research, and promotions in international, regional and local communities.

Applicants should possess a BDS degree or equivalent, with clinical experience as well as evidence of sustained development through continuing professional education, or hold a Master’s degree in a dental discipline; and be a registered dentist in Hong Kong with a valid practising certificate issued by the Dental Council of Hong Kong. They should be fluent in Chinese (including Cantonese) and English. Those with research experience in Community Dentistry or Dental Public Health or a closely related field would be highly desirable. Experience in conducting oral epidemiological studies would be an advantage.

The appointee will participate in conducting a Hong Kong territory-wide oral health survey on various population groups, including pre-school children, adolescents, middle-age adults, and institutionalized and non-institutionalized older adults. He/She will conduct clinical examinations and interviews on survey participants; supervise survey support staff; provide individual counselling to survey participants; and perform other duties including teaching, research and knowledge exchange as assigned.
