Basic Function:
The Sr. Systems Programmer/Analyst is responsible for providing technical expertise to assure data integrity by managing, maintaining and supporting the administrative database for the University.

Representative Duties:
  • Provide technical expertise to assure data integrity for the university’s administrative system and related systems. E
  • Write, debug, and maintain code using Colleague Studio and other supported development tools. E
  • Assess, develop, test, and maintain new or existing applications and integrations between Ellucian Colleague and Third-Party systems using Unidata scripting, ETLs, REST APIs. E
  • Support the data reporting and data management function by creating reporting using SQL and analyzing complex data.
  • Administer, install and upgrade the University’s centrally managed systems. Act as a technical lead on projects. E
  • Maintain consistency and security of the data in the administrative system. E
  • Develop and maintain documentation, procedures, and training materials for technical and functional University staff.
  • Stay current with Ellucian updates and attend Ellucian and programming language training required to fulfill responsibilities.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

  • Administrative computing systems and systems management within a higher education environment.
  • Latest version of Ellucian Colleague.
  • Database theories, practices and maintenance.
  • Best practices in data security and integrity.





Ability To:
  • Provide technical expertise to assure data integrity.
  • Manage, maintain and support the administrative database for the University.
  • Design data relationships and provide corresponding systems programming support.
  • Provide for system consistency and security.
  • Identify problems and recommend and implement solutions.
  • Read and interpret reference manuals.
  • Communicate technical issues in a non-technical manner to users.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Work independently with little direction.
  • Plan and organize work.


Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination equivalent to: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and seven year’s experience in computer operations, database administration or user support.

Preferred Qualifications:
At least seven years’ experience with Ellucian Colleague Report Writing (including SQL Reporting Services) SQL Server and Unidata expertiseProject Management experienceExperience with all Colleague Modules (Envision, WebAdvisor, Workflow and ELF programming. UniBasic, UniQuery, UniObjects, TOOL Kit and Colleague Studio) Experience with Version Control Software (e.g. git, subversion).Experience building, deploying and managing an application in various environments.Experience creating and consuming REST APIs.Experience developing solutions to synchronize data between various applications.
