Position Summary and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Director of Institutional Research and Decision Support, the Reporting and Data Analyst will work closely with various offices within the institution in providing timely, accurate and relevant data. The Reporting and Data Analyst is expected to have a technical skill to collect, analyze, interpret, and report data. Moreover, under the guidance of the IR director and other offices such as the Registrar, the Reporting and Data Analyst will assist with completing national surveys such as the College Board survey, US News, Petersons, and Common Data Set. Responsibilities:
  • Prepare reports on a regular basis and in a systematic way by collecting data from multiple data resources as directed by the IR director.
  • Meet the need of ad hoc data requests from campus constituents.
  • Assist in completing national surveys.
  • Give presentations to campus constituents.
  • Understand and be familiar with the processes and policies of Vassar College.
  • Assist in conducting surveys to gather information from prospective and current students.
  • Communicate data with all constituents in a respectful and understanding manner.
  • Participate in institutional research projects and tasks depending on the demands and priorities of the institution.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Strong background in quantitative analysis: sociology, statistics, computer science, math, or other related fields with an emphasis on quantitative research methods in the social sciences.
  • One to five years of experience after graduation is preferred. Experience in a higher education setting is preferred.
  • Background on quantitative research methods.
  • Skills in analyzing data.
  • Familiarity with SQL programming language (Strong background in SQL is preferred).
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in descriptive and advanced data analysis using tools such as Excel, SPSS, Access, SAS, or other data analysis software.
  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience presenting data to a wide range of audience in a concise and accessible manner.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to follow high ethical standards in securing sensitive information confidentially according to the policies of Vassar College and FERPA guidelines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with a broad range of individuals internally and externally; in addition, the ability to be diplomatic in a complex environment in oral and written communication.
  • An ability to learn quickly, be flexible, and be comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Demonstrated commitment to high standards of excellence, a willingness to go the extra mile, and strong attention to detail.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills along with excellent collaboration and facilitation skills.
