Mary Lou Fulton Endowed Chair of Education Effectiveness and Innovation Associate or Full professor

Summary:
Utah Valley University's School of Education is seeking an accomplished and dynamic faculty member to serve as the Mary Lou Fulton Endowed Chair of Education Effectiveness and Innovation. This is an exciting opportunity to support the School of Education (SOE) in exploring and implementing innovative educational practices in teacher preparation and in K-12 environments. The Mary Lou Fulton Endowed Chair of Education Effectiveness and Innovation will impact the professional field by producing and publishing research in collaboration with faculty and by obtaining grant funding associated with high-impact education topics.

This forward-thinking collaborator will also have ample opportunities to create and foster transformative partnerships within the SOE and the communities we serve in a variety of educational initiatives. They will proactively engage with key stakeholders on critical education topics and data-informed decision making that will inform SOE initiatives. This educator will contribute to the success of professional program students by teaching undergraduate or graduate courses. Under the direction of the dean and the department chair, the Mary Lou Fulton Endowed Chair collaborates with colleagues and students on issues related to professional teaching practice and scholarship, pursues and obtains grant funding in high impact education areas, produces and publishes related research, and engages with school districts, state, regional, and national education entities in developing and implementing initiatives and resources focused on effective teaching and innovative educational practices. The Chair provides service to the school, university, and community; models, promotes and applies inclusive educational and professional practices; supports collegiality; and upholds professional and ethical standards. Required Qualifications:
-Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with an earned doctorate in the field of Education or closely related field.
-Evidence of knowledge and skills in impacting and leading innovation in teaching.
-Evidence of scholarly and creative work.
-At least three years of successful K-12 public school teaching experience.
-Experience with innovative forms of teacher preparation.
-Experience and commitment to university/public school partnerships.
-Experience in supporting faculty and student collaborative research projects.
-Earned teaching license.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Expertise in elementary literacy instruction and scholarship
-Knowledge of content and pedagogy required to teach courses in education and teacher preparation in the areas of elementary literacy, differentiation, and/or learning environments
-Knowledge of current developments, trends, issues, and innovations in education and teacher preparation
-Skills in creating and managing productive teaching/learning environments in K-12 education and teacher preparation
-Skills in working successfully with K-16 colleagues, students, and education stakeholders to impact innovation and improvement in the teaching profession
-Skills in modeling and applying exemplary teaching methods
-Skills in conducting and publishing educational research
-Skills in collaborating with other faculty, including on research and publications
-Skills in mentoring students engaged in traditional and in innovative teaching preparation models to program completion
-Skills in mentoring K-16 education professionals
-Excellent communication skills
-Ability to actively engage in professional discussions to improve impactful teacher preparation and K-12 education
-Ability to teach effectively in an inclusive and engaging learning environment
-Ability to serve on school, university, and professional committees
-Ability to obtain, support, and administer successful grant funding
-Ability to engage with and support diverse educational settings and individuals
-Ability to relate positively with diverse groups of students, colleagues, and various stakeholders in education
