Summary:

The Senior Director for University Marketing and Communications provides team leadership and marketing expertise in the development and implementation of marketing and communications for Mount Mary University. This role will interface regularly with key stakeholders in Recruitment, Alumnae and Donor Relations and Academic Programs while leading a team of professional communications and design staff. This position is responsible for all aspects of the Mount Mary website. It reports directly to the President of the University.

Marketing

  • Oversees the development, implementation and management of a comprehensive integrated communications and marketing program; the strategic program will encompass branding, recruitment marketing, media relations, digital, social media and publications, and will provide oversight to ensure communication of institutional priorities to key constituencies.
  • Directs the development of collateral materials in support of marketing strategies including publications, videos, electronic communications and multimedia presentations.
  • Identifies strategic goals for the department and oversees project management for all marketing, recruitment, development, student affairs and academic requests.
  • Leads marketing launches for all new academic programs.
  • Serves as liaison to collaborative Trinity Woods marketing team.
  • Conducts marketing research and reporting and provides strategic data-driven recommendations to leadership.
  • Coordinates with the President to develop a University Marketing Committee.
  • Manages all marketing budgets.
  • Sets and maintain all brand standards for the institution and oversee updates as needed.

Website

  • In collaboration with an external agency assesses the marketing effectiveness of the Mount Mary website and manages all upgrades.
  • Trains webpage managers and approves and manages all content and optimization measures to maintain an up-to-date website that is an effective marketing tool for recruitment.

Communications

  • Collaborates with the Sr. Director of Communication, who is responsible for media relations and institutional publications for the campus.
  • Directs all necessary communications for the campus to include policy development and compliance, training, coordination of administrative and academic communications, and directs homepage and portal development.
  • Serves as spokesperson for the campus or delegates that responsibility to appropriate individuals.
  • Oversees the University's Crisis Communication Plan and provides crisis communication management for leadership during incidents that have potential to negatively impact the University's reputation in conjunction with the Sr. Director of Communications.

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of established professional codes of ethics and best practices for marketing & communications
  • Expertise in development, optimization and updating of institutional website
  • Proficient project manager
  • Strong data and analytical proficiency in marketing advertising metrics (digital and social advertising, SEO and PPC) and website optimization
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting inclusiveness and cultural competence; experience working with underrepresented students and students from at-risk backgrounds
  • Experience and understanding of current issues and developments in higher education
  • Exceptional ability to multitask and prioritize projects
  • Excellent oral, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work with diverse groups, facilitate group processes and foster collaborative decision making
  • Strong working knowledge of publication design, print production, and vendor relationships
  • Skills in use of Microsoft Office programs and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software (InDesign and Photoshop)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or a related discipline required. MBA or Master's degree a plus.
  • Minimum of five years of marketing/communications experience that includes working with marketing professionals, social media, editors, graphic and Web designers, clients, and media vendors. Higher education experience a plus
  • Knowledge of website design and optimization
  • Knowledge of ADA web compliance measures highly preferred

Physical Demands:

  • May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.

Working Conditions:

  • Full time - 40 hours/week
  • Varying workflow; sometimes stressful with high workload times of the year
  • Complete work required within an open-office setting with possible distractions
  • Complete work required within a limited time
