Institutional Research and Analysis serves as the official source of institutional information. It is the mission of this office to define, collect, analyze, maintain and disseminate official institutional data. Annual surveys are also administered to students and analyzed by this office. Survey and official record data are used to make policy and management decisions for campus academic units, administrative units, and students.

This unit provides official institutional information to both internal and external constituents for the purposes of describing, documenting, and publishing institutional information and measures of effectiveness.

Description of Job

The Student Retention Software Coordinator and Analyst facilitates and supports the ongoing usage of a university-wide student success/retention support software (Starfish). Starfish is a key component in CSU Pueblo’s retention strategy and in meeting the Colorado degree completion initiative.

The Student Retention Software Coordinator and Analyst acts university-wide to coordinate training, daily operations, functional development and testing, internal and external communications, data analysis and marketing for Starfish. The position also serves as back-up analyst and support for University-wide student retention and success programming including the Title V grant implementation.

This position has the potential for a flexible work arrangement once training is complete.
 
Primary Duties
Supports Operation of Retention/Advising software

  • Coordinates all functional system-related activities including system set up, maintenance, upgrades, functional development and testing, in coordination with Informational Technology.
  • Provides end user support by monitoring and replying to internal and external communications (e.g. Starfish email, EAB Compass).
  • Coordinates with university Provost’s Office, the Office of the Registrar, Institutional Research and EAB for system support.
  • Collaborates with Pack Center director and Academic Advising Council to better understand system use and areas for improvement and integration.
  • Works with Provost’s Office to support implementation of current initiatives (e.g., early and midterm performance surveys) and the development and implementation of new initiatives.
  • Implements data analytics capacity, in collaboration with IR Director for retention.
  • Attends annual conference and trainings, as budget allows.

Maintains Retention/Advising software

  • Leads system enhancements, technical troubleshooting.
  • Monitors utilization of software by students, faculty and staff.
  • Monitors and modifies roles, permissions and assignments in Starfish.
  • Leads individual and group trainings for all users.
  • Collaborates to create and maintain training materials and shared user documents.
  • Contributes to a pleasant work environment and maintains a professional demeanor.
  • Regularly collaborates with co-workers, campus partners and supervisor in an effort to successfully achieve department and university goals.
  • Maintains confidentiality of student records.

Supports university-wide assessment of student retention

  • Works with supervisor to effectively measure progress toward goals and objectives, collect and assess data, and utilize results for continuous improvement of retention initiatives.
  • Provides timely updates, progress reports, and summary statements to supervisor.
  • Provides reporting and data needs for Title V grant implementation and Annual Performance Reports.

Markets and promotes use of Retention/Advising software

  • Partners with campus units to increase the visibility and participation in Starfish by students, faculty/course instructors, and staff.
  • Collaborates in marketing and communication campaigns for Starfish and student success.

 Ancillary Duties

  • Serves on various university committees and performs other duties assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience compiling and analyzing data
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with a diverse group of people
  • Demonstrated experience presenting information to individuals and groups

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Experience with Starfish or other retention/advising software
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience developing training materials and delivering training
  • Experience providing academic advising in a higher education setting
  • Two (2) years of demonstrated experience in a higher education setting (academic advising, communications, data analysis, student services, student affairs, student support and/or student retention efforts)
