Position: Assistant Professor of Rehabilitation Services
Starting Date: August, 2022
Minimum Qualifications:
1. An earned doctorate in Rehabilitation Counselor Education or
closely related field from an accredited institution (or
equivalent) is required. Applicants nearing completion of the
doctorate (ABD) may be considered; for appointment, the doctorate
must be awarded by the date of appointment (8/18/2022).
2. Evidence of possession or eligibility to attain possession of
the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (C.R.C.) certification by
the date of appointment (8/18/2022).
3. Demonstrated ability and interest in working in a collaborative,
multiethnic, multicultural environment.
4. Evidence of successful university teaching experience in one or
more of the following areas:
a. Rehabilitation education
b. Career counseling, job development, and placement
c. Human development and self-exploration
d. Counseling theories and strategies
e. Community mental health counseling
5. Potential to build a record of excellent teaching, service, and
scholarly publications to support successful retention, tenure, and
promotion.
Preferred Qualifications:
1) A doctorate degree in Rehabilitation Counselor Education from a
CACREP accredited program.
2) Documented experience with fieldwork/internship supervision,
professional development, and online instruction.
3) Evidence of successful teaching experience at the undergraduate
level.
4) A demonstrated record of research, scholarly, and/or creative
activity, including evidence of peer-reviewed publications in book
chapters or scholarly journals.
5) Experience in program development and community
engagement.
6) Experience in grant writing or grant implementation.
7) Record or potential to conduct research and other scholarly
activities involving undergraduate students.
8) Demonstrated expertise in a closely related discipline (e.g.,
Transition Services, Applied Behavior Analysis).
Duties:
The primary professional responsibilities of instructional faculty
members are: teaching, research, scholarship and/or creative
activity, and service to the University, profession, and the
community. These responsibilities generally include: advising
students, participation in campus and system-wide committees,
maintaining office hours, working collaboratively and productively
with colleagues, and participating in traditional academic
functions.
Other duties include supervising and monitoring internship
placements in community agencies, outreach and recruitment for
undergraduate students. The Rehabilitation Services program's
mission is to develop counseling-related professionals to serve
urban, multilingual schools and other agencies in the 21st century.
The successful candidate will also participate in University or
community service, and assist the program in seeking additional
external funding.

Salary: Initial salary is commensurate with qualifications and
experience.

feeder into various options in the Master of Science in Counseling
program.
